Frequently Asked Questions

How do I scan a bin?

Open the Codenize app and tap the "Scan" button. Point your camera at the QR code on the bin to scan it.

Why does the app need camera access?

Codenize needs camera access to scan QR codes on bins.

Why does the app need location access?

We use your location to track where bins are scanned, helping you manage bin locations effectively.

What happens if I don't allow location access?

The app will still work perfectly! If you don't grant location permission, the app will simply disable the location tracking feature. You can still scan bins and use all other features of the app.

How do I reset my password?

Codenize uses passwordless login via email magic links, so there are no passwords to reset. Simply sign in with your email address and we'll send you a secure login link.

Creating QR Codes for Your Bins

Codenize works with any QR code that contains a valid UUID (Universally Unique Identifier). Use our QR Code Generator to easily create QR codes for your bins.

For New Bins

You can generate a QR code with any unused UUID. When you scan it with the app, you'll be able to add the bin and associate it with that UUID.

  • Use our QR Code Generator to create a new UUID and QR code
  • Download or print the QR code
  • Attach it to your bin
  • Scan with the Codenize app to register the bin

For Existing Bins

If you've already registered a bin in the app, you'll need to use its existing UUID when creating replacement QR codes:

  • Look up the bin's UUID in the Codenize app
  • Enter that UUID in our QR Code Generator
  • Download or print the QR code for your existing bin

Our QR codes are optimized for best compatibility with the Codenize app:

  • Format: Standard QR code with UUID text
  • Error Correction: High (H level) for durability
